Case IH 435 – Engine Control Unit (ENG / Engine Controller): Engine oil pressure data is invalid.

Triggered when the machine is keyed on (engine off) and the data reading from the engine oil pressure sensor does not match the baseline data from the ambient air pressure sensor and the ambient intake manifold pressure sensor, resulting in no engine protection for oil pressure.

   Using a diagnostic tool, check the pressure readings at 'Key On, Engine Off' and compare the Engine Oil Pressure sensor value against the Ambient Air Pressure and Intake Manifold Pressure sensors (all should read atmospheric pressure).

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the oil pressure sensor for damaged wires, bent pins, loose connections, or corroded terminals.

   Verify that the sensor is receiving the correct 5-volt supply and has a solid ground connection to the engine controller.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the engine oil pressure sensor on the engine block (location varies by specific engine model, e.g., Cummins QSM 11 or CNH FPT).

   Inspect the Connector

   Disconnect the 3-pin oval connector from the sensor. Inspect the pins for corrosion or pushed-back terminals. Clean with contact cleaner if necessary.

   Test the Harness

   If wiring damage is found during the diagnostic phase, repair the faulty wire or replace the harness section.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring and voltages are good but the sensor reading is still skewed at key-on, the sensor has failed internally. Unthread the old sensor and install the new OEM replacement.

   Reassemble and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the sensor harness, reconnect the battery, and turn the key on. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the inactive fault code 435. Verify that the yellow/red engine warning lamps do not illuminate upon key-on.
