Case IH 4352 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote): Rear Remote No.8 - Valve Spool Not Calibrated
Issue description
The control module does not have valid calibration data for the spool travel limits of the 8th rear hydraulic remote valve, which prevents the controller from accurately determining the spool's position and results in the remote valve being disabled or functioning erratically.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- Magnum
- Steiger T4B
- Magnum Series
- Steiger Series
- Quadtrac Series
- Maxxum
- Puma
Check the cause
Check for related active EHR fault codes (e.g., 4339, 4330, or 4346). Hardware issues must be resolved before calibration can succeed.
Inspect the armrest SCV lever for remote #8 to ensure it moves smoothly through all detents (extend, retract, float, and neutral).
Inspect the wiring harness and connections from the armrest controls to the EHR controller, and from the EHR to rear remote valve #8 for corrosion, moisture, or damaged pins.
Ensure the tractor's hydraulic fluid is warmed up to normal operating temperature before attempting calibration.
Repair steps
Attempt Spool Calibration
Enter the tractor's calibration menu via the A-post instrument cluster (holding the PROG key while turning the key to the ON position, then navigating to the ARM/EHR section) or through the AFS Pro monitor (navigating to the H-Menu > H1 for calibrations).
Follow On-Screen Prompts
Move the lever for remote #8 fully back (raise/retract), push it fully forward (lower/extend), and then return it to neutral as prompted by the system.
Save the Calibration
Turn off the ignition key and wait at least 30 seconds before restarting the tractor to allow the EHR controller to save the new calibration values to its memory.
Test Operation
Restart the tractor and test the remote. If the code clears and the remote works, the repair is complete.
Address Hardware Failures
If the calibration fails to complete or the code immediately returns, replace either the SCV lever potentiometer in the armrest or the EHR spool position transducer located on the rear remote valve slice itself.
Re-calibrate
After replacing any faulty hardware, repeat the calibration procedure (Steps 1-3) and clear the inactive fault codes using the monitor or the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST).
