Case IH 4358 – EHR (Electronic Hitch Control / Electro-Hydraulic Remote) module: EHR Implement Raise Error
Issue description
Raise delta depth is greater than 10% for more than 25 seconds. The system is commanding the implement to raise, but the feedback sensor indicates that the implement is not reaching the target position within the expected timeframe.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- Magnum
- Steiger T4B
- Case IH Magnum 235 - 340 (Series 4)
Check the cause
Inspect the mechanical linkage connecting the hitch to the implement potentiometer for physical damage, binding, or misadjustment.
Check the Tractor Control Unit (TCU) connectors C066 and C063.
Check the implement interface (potentiometer) connector C686.
Ensure all connectors are securely connected, not damaged, and that the pins are in the correct position without corrosion.
Repair steps
Park and secure the tractor
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower the implement (if possible), turn off the engine, and remove the key.
Locate the implement potentiometer
Locate the implement potentiometer (rotary position sensor) on the rear hitch assembly.
Inspect and adjust the physical linkage
Inspect the physical linkage. If the linkage is bent or misadjusted, repair or adjust it to factory specifications so the sensor can accurately read the hitch position.
Clean and verify connectors
Disconnect connector C686 at the potentiometer, as well as C066 and C063 at the TCU. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and verify wiring continuity.
Diagnose potentiometer failure
If the wiring and linkage are in good condition but the error persists, the implement potentiometer has failed internally.
Remove the faulty potentiometer
Unbolt the faulty potentiometer from the linkage and mounting bracket.
Install the new potentiometer
Install the new potentiometer, ensuring the rotary linkage is correctly aligned with the hitch mechanism.
Reconnect and test
Reconnect the wiring harness, power on the tractor, and clear the fault codes. Test the EHR raise/lower functions to verify the repair.
