Case IH 4383 – UCM: Reverse Pump Control Valves (Directional) Solenoids Return Open Circuit

Issue description

The control module has detected an open electrical circuit on the return (ground) path of the common directional solenoid for the reverse pump.

Applies to these machines

  • skid steer
  • Case IH Steiger series tractors
  • Case IH Puma series tractors
  • Case IH MX/TG series tractors
  • Case IH and New Holland SSL (Skid Steer Loaders)
  • Case IH and New Holland CTL (Compact Track Loaders)

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness between the UCM and the reverse pump control valve for breaks or damage

  2. Check the connectors between the UCM and the solenoid for loose pins or corrosion

  3. Test the solenoid coil itself to determine if it has failed open

Repair steps

  1. Locate solenoid

Locate the reverse pump control valve directional solenoid.

  2. Identify open circuit

Identify the break in the electrical continuity (the "open circuit") on the return line.

  3. Repair or replace

Repair the damaged wiring harness/connector returning to the UCM, or replace the solenoid entirely if the internal coil has failed open.

Parts you might need

(1)
