Case IH 44 – Tractor Multifunction Controller (TMF): Hitch calibration aborted due to tractor movement.

During an electrohydraulic rear hitch calibration, the tractor must remain completely stationary. If the control module receives a speed signal (greater than zero) from the tractor's radar or transmission/wheel speed sensors while the calibration is in progress, the system automatically aborts the procedure for safety and accuracy.

   Verify the tractor is parked on a flat, level surface with the parking brake fully engaged and the implement disconnected.

   Ensure the engine is running at a steady idle (required for calibration).

   Access the tractor's diagnostic menu on the cab display to monitor live data for the radar and wheel speed sensors. Look for a speed greater than 0 mph while parked, indicating a false signal.

   Inspect the wiring harnesses leading to the radar and transmission output speed sensors for chafing, moisture in connectors, or shorts to ground/power.

   Secure the Tractor

   Park the tractor, engage the parking brake, and chock the wheels to ensure absolutely zero physical movement.

   Address False Speed Signals

   If your diagnostic check revealed a false speed signal while parked, trace the wiring harness from the TMF to the offending speed sensor or radar. Repair any damaged wires. If the wiring is intact, replace the faulty speed sensor/radar unit.

   Restart Calibration

   Once the speed signal reads zero, restart the hitch calibration process.

   Execute Calibration

   Start the engine. Enter the calibration menu via the cab display. Follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the raise and lower valves.

   Clear the Code

   If the screen displays 'Cal Aborted' again, press the PROG key to exit, re-verify that no movement or false signals are occurring, and restart the process. Once the calibration completes successfully, the TMF will save the new parameters and the code will clear.
