Case IH 441 – Engine Controller (ENG) / Engine Control Module (ECM): Battery Voltage is too Low (less than 6 volts) / Battery 1 Voltage - Data Valid But Below Normal Operational Range

Low voltage detected at the unswitched power inputs of the Engine Control Module (ECM).

   Check for weak or failing batteries

   Check all battery power cables and tractor grounds for corrosion, damage, or loose connections

   Test the voltage at the ECM unswitched battery supply circuit (note that on some models, this supply is taken directly from the starter)

   Test the alternator output if the engine is running and the battery voltage is below 14.5 volts

   Inspect the wiring harness for damage, bent pins, loose connections, or corroded pins at the ECM connectors

   Clean Connections

   Disconnect the batteries and thoroughly clean all battery terminals, cables, and chassis ground connections. Reconnect and ensure they are tight.

   Test/Replace Batteries

   Perform a load test on the tractor's batteries. If the voltage drops significantly under load or the batteries are weak, replace them.

   Test/Replace Alternator

   Start the tractor and measure the voltage across the battery terminals. If the charging system is not outputting adequate voltage (typically around 14.5 volts), replace the alternator.

   Repair Wiring

   If the batteries and alternator are functioning correctly, trace the unswitched power supply circuit to the ECM. Locate and repair any broken wires, or replace the faulty wiring harness/connectors.
