Case IH 4514 – Armrest Controller / Multicontroller or Auxiliary Valve Controller: Front remote no. 2 - no control message received.
Issue description
The tractor's main controller has lost CAN bus communication with the electronic module specifically mounted on the Front Remote Valve #2.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- Puma/Mid Range Magnum
- MAXXUM T4E
- VESTRUM CVX
- Case IH Puma series
- Case IH Maxxum series
- Case IH Magnum series
- Case IH Steiger series
Check the cause
Locate Front Remote Valve #2 and inspect the electrical connector plugging into the valve's solenoid/module for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-back pins.
Test the wiring harness going to the valve for continuity. Verify that the valve is receiving 12V power and a solid ground.
Test the CAN High and CAN Low wires back to the main harness splice to ensure there is no open or short circuit.
Perform a swap test by swapping the electrical connector from Front Remote #2 with Front Remote #1 (if equipped). If the code changes to 4500, the valve module is faulty. If it remains 4514, the tractor's wiring harness is faulty.
Repair steps
Preparation
Disconnect the tractor's battery. Thoroughly clean the area around the front remote valve stack to prevent dirt from contaminating the hydraulic system.
Disconnection
Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty Front Remote #2 valve section. Disconnect the hydraulic lines attached to this specific remote.
Removal
Remove the tie-bolts (mounting bolts) that hold the hydraulic valve stack together. Carefully slide the faulty electronic valve section out of the stack.
Installation
Install the new electronic valve section. Crucial: You must use fresh O-rings between the valve slices during reassembly to prevent internal pressure leaks.
Reassembly
Reinstall and torque the tie-bolts to OEM specifications. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical connector.
Bleeding & Calibration
Reconnect the battery and start the tractor. Bleed the hydraulic system to remove any trapped air (which causes sluggish operation). Finally, use the AFS Pro 600/700 monitor or a dealer diagnostic tool to calibrate the new remote valve so the tractor recognizes its spool travel limits.
