Case IH 452 – Engine Control Module (ECM / ENG): Fuel Pressure Sensor voltage is too low.
Issue description
This is an electrical circuit code indicating that the signal voltage returning from the fuel pressure sensor to the engine computer has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold. This typically points to a short to ground in the sensor wiring, an open circuit (broken wire), a disconnected plug, or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

Check the cause
Check the wiring harness leading to the fuel pressure sensor for chafing, melting, or obvious breaks that could cause a short to ground.
Disconnect the sensor and inspect the 3-pin connector for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.
Turn the key ON (engine off) and verify that the sensor is receiving the correct 5-volt reference and a solid ground from the ECM.
Check the continuity of the signal wire from the sensor harness back to the Engine Controller (e.g., pin A46).
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts or spikes during the repair.
Relieve Pressure
Safely relieve the fuel system pressure. Warning: Common rail systems operate at extremely high pressures (up to 1800 BAR); never open the system while it is pressurized.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the fuel pressure sensor, which is typically threaded directly into the high-pressure fuel rail or near the injection pump.
Remove the Sensor
Unplug the electrical wiring harness. Unthread and remove the faulty fuel pressure sensor.
Clean and Prep
Clean the mounting port and threads on the fuel rail to ensure a good seal and prevent debris from entering the fuel system.
Install New Sensor
Thread the new fuel pressure sensor into the rail and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque.
Reconnect
Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the weather-pack connector clicks and seats fully.
Test
Reconnect the battery, prime the fuel system, and start the engine. Check for any fuel leaks around the new sensor and use a diagnostic tool to clear the fault codes.
