Case IH 4559 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Controller or Armrest Controller: EHR control no.4 not calibrated

The controller does not recognize the neutral, extend, or retract set points of the lever/switch for the #4 rear remote valve. The controller is seeing an implausible voltage reading from the potentiometer inside the armrest lever, or the calibration data has been lost/corrupted.

   Check the #4 remote lever/switch on the armrest to ensure it physically returns to the center (neutral) position without sticking.

   Observe the A-post display or armrest indicator lights. If the tractor prompts you to move the EHR to neutral and the green cylinder light remains on while the lever is physically in neutral, the potentiometer is likely failing.

   Look for related codes 4181 (EHR Control No. 4 open circuit) or 4182 (EHR Control No. 4 short circuit). If present, this indicates a hard wiring fault or a completely failed potentiometer, not just a calibration issue.

   Inspect the wiring harness from the armrest controls to the EHR controller for chafing or loose connections.

   Attempt a Lever Calibration

   For Magnum/Steiger (A-post method): Hold the 'PROG' key while turning the ignition key to the ON position and navigate to the 'ARM' or 'EHR' section to find the calibration menu. For AFS Pro 700/1200 Displays: Navigate to the EHR/Remote Valve calibration screen in the display settings.

   Select the #4 remote valve

   Select the #4 remote valve in the calibration menu.

   Calibrate the lever positions

   Pull the #4 lever fully back (retract/raise detent), then push it fully forward (extend/lower detent), and then let it return to the neutral position. Note: On some models, you may need to turn the flow control dial to max flow during this process.

   Save calibration data

   Turn off the ignition key and wait at least 30 seconds for the controller to save the calibration data before restarting the tractor.

   Disconnect the battery

   If the calibration fails, or if the fault code returns immediately after calibration, the potentiometer inside the armrest lever is worn out and the switch must be replaced. Begin by disconnecting the battery.

   Remove the armrest cover

   Remove the armrest cover to access the EHR switch assembly.

   Unplug the electrical connector

   Unplug the electrical connector for the #4 remote switch.

   Remove the faulty switch

   Unbolt and remove the faulty switch assembly.

   Install the new switch

   Install the new switch assembly, reconnect the harness, and reassemble the armrest.

    Recalibrate the new switch

    You must perform the calibration procedure (Steps 1-4) again after installing a new switch.
