Case IH 4562 – EHR (Electronic Hydraulic Remote) Controller / Universal Controller: Front remote no. 3 - no communications

The tractor's electronic control system has lost CAN bus communication with the electronic actuator (driver) for the third front hydraulic remote valve. When this occurs, the system cannot control or monitor the spool movement for that specific remote.

   Check for other CAN bus communication error codes to determine if multiple remote valves are failing, which indicates a shared power, ground, or CAN bus wiring failure rather than a single faulty valve.

   Inspect the harness connector at the Front Remote No. 3 EHR valve for moisture, corrosion, bent pins, or pushed-out terminals.

   Test the harness to verify 12V power, ground, and CAN High/CAN Low signals are reaching the valve.

   Check the internal EHR diagnostic LED for flashing blink codes (may require removing paint from the housing or extracting the valve slightly to see the LED through the plastic wrap next to the harness connector).

   Resolve Harness Issues

   If the diagnostic checks reveal a wiring fault (e.g., open circuit or short), repair the CAN bus harness or replace the damaged connector.

   Replace the EHR Valve

   If the harness tests perfectly (power, ground, and CAN signals are present) but the valve still fails to communicate (or the internal LED is dead/flashing a fatal hardware code), the EHR valve actuator itself has failed internally and must be replaced.

   Clear Codes

   Once the repair is made, use the tractor's universal controller diagnostic menu or the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear the stored fault codes.

   Test Operation

   Operate the front remote joystick to verify that Front Remote No. 3 functions normally and the code does not return.
