Case IH 4565 – FPS (Full Power Shift) Central Control Unit or EHR valve controller: High flow pump connection error
Issue description
The system has detected an open circuit, communication failure, or physical connection issue between the control module and the high flow hydraulic pump or the Electronic Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- Puma/Mid Range Magnum
- MAXXUM T4E
- VESTRUM CVX
- Case IH Puma series (165, 180, 195, 210, 225 CVX)
- Case IH Steiger series
- Case IH Magnum (MX/TG series)
- Case IH Maxxum series
Check the cause
Visual LED Flash Code Check: Locate the EHR valve. The EHR 7.5 diagnostic LED displays flash codes directly on the unit. The LED is internal and can be seen flashing through the plastic part of the valve housing, located next to the wiring harness connector. Note: OEM manuals state it may be necessary to remove paint from the housing of the EHR valve to see the LED blinking.
Wiring Inspection: Check the wiring harness and connector leading to the EHR valve and the high flow pump for signs of corrosion, backed-out pins, or physical damage.
Continuity Test: Use a multimeter to test the harness for an open circuit or a short to ground between the FPS controller and the high flow pump/EHR valve.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Clean and Reseat Connectors
Disconnect the harness at the EHR valve and high flow pump. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and firmly reseat the connections.
Repair Wiring
If the continuity test revealed an open circuit in the harness, repair the broken wire or replace the EHR control valve wiring harness entirely.
Replace the EHR Valve
If the wiring is intact and the fault code is still present, the internal circuitry of the EHR valve has likely failed. Remove and replace the EHR valve section.
Reconfigure the Module
After installing a new EHR valve, use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to configure and calibrate the new valve section to the tractor's FPS Central Control Unit.
