Case IH 4747 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Left Swash Plate Angle Sensor In-Range Fault
Issue description
The sensor's electrical signal is present and within the normal voltage limits, but the reading is implausible or does not match the expected operational range for the commanded swash plate angle.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the left swash plate angle sensor (mounted on the bottom of the left travel/hydrostatic pump) and the swash plate mechanical linkage for physical damage.
Inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the sensor. Check Pins A and B for moisture, corrosion, open circuits, or shorts to ground/power.
Check if the system is also throwing code 4752 (Command Does Not Match Swash Plate Angle). If present, the issue may be mechanical binding in the pump rather than a failed sensor.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes to the UCM during repair.
Access the Sensor
Follow the hydraulic hoses from the left travel motor back to the travel pump to locate the sensor underneath.
Test the Circuit
Using a multimeter, test Pin A and Pin B on the sensor harness for continuity and ensure there are no shorts to ground or power.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring is intact and the mechanical linkage moves freely, the sensor itself has failed internally. Unplug the connector, unbolt the faulty sensor, and install the new unit.
Calibrate the System
After replacement, use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to run the 'Procedure To Restore Self Learning Parameters' so the UCM can relearn the new sensor's baseline voltage.
