Case IH 5007 – CCH (Cab Controller Hub) or Rear PTO Controller: PTO remote fender switch stuck on (CCH Only)
Issue description
The controller is receiving a continuous, uninterrupted 'ON' signal from the remote Power Take-Off (PTO) switch located on the rear fender. If the controller sees the 'on' state continuously without a break, it flags the switch as stuck and disables the PTO for safety.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- Magnum
- Case IH Magnum 235 - 340 (Series 4)
- Case IH Steiger Series
- Case IH Puma Series
Check the cause
Verify tractor configuration: If the tractor is not equipped with rear fender PTO switches, use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to set 'Fender Switches' to 'No' (configuration error cause).
Inspect the fender switches for physical damage, packed dirt, or ice that might be physically holding the button down.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the fender switch. If the code changes to an open circuit code (5034 or 158), the switch itself is internally shorted or stuck.
If disconnecting the switch does not change the code, use a multimeter to check the wiring harness between the fender and the CCH for a short to 12V power (wiring harness cause).
Check the yellow PTO switch inside the cab to ensure it is not flimsy or sticking, which can cause erratic controller behavior and related PTO codes.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and locate the affected PTO remote switch on the rear fender.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the mudguard/fender area around the switch to prevent dirt from falling into the electrical connectors.
Disconnect
Reach behind the fender panel and unplug the electrical harness connector from the back of the switch.
Remove the Switch
Depress the retaining clips or remove the retaining nut holding the switch into the fender casting, and push the switch out of its mounting hole.
Install the New Part
Snap or thread the new OEM switch into the fender housing until it is secure.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical harness back into the switch. Ensure the weather-pack seal clicks firmly into place.
Test
Start the tractor. The 5007 code should move from 'Active' to 'Inactive' (or clear entirely), and normal PTO operation should be restored.
