Case IH 5019 – CCH (Central Controller Hub): Rear PTO is configured as a two-speed and no shaft size frequency was detected when the PTO was switched on. (CCH Only)

The controller is configured for a two-speed Rear Power Take-Off (RPTO). When the operator switches the PTO on, the system expects a frequency signal from the PTO shaft size sensor to confirm which shaft is installed. If it detects no frequency, it throws code 5019. Alternatively, an LSD short to GND means the ground-side control wire is chafed and touching the tractor's chassis, or the solenoid/driver is internally shorted.

   Verify the PTO shaft is fully inserted and seated properly so the size sensor can read the frequency (Shaft Size Frequency Not Detected cause).

   Check the PTO configuration via the cab monitor to ensure a single-speed PTO is not incorrectly configured as a two-speed.

   Inspect the sensor and RPTO clutch solenoid wiring at the rear PTO housing for continuity to ground on the low-side control wire (LSD short to GND cause).

   Measure the resistance of the sensor and the solenoid coil to ensure they are within specification and not internally shorted.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Rear PTO Housing

   Locate the PTO valve block and sensor array at the rear of the tractor.

   Wiring Repair (If shorted)

   Trace the wiring harness from the PTO solenoid/sensor back to the CCH. Look for pinch points, melted insulation, or chafing against the chassis. Splice and heat-shrink any damaged wires, or replace the pigtail harness if the connector is corroded.

   Component Replacement

   If the shaft size/speed sensor is faulty, unbolt the retaining bracket, pull the old sensor from the housing, lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor, and press it into place. If the RPTO clutch solenoid is internally shorted, remove the retaining nut, slide the old coil off the valve stem, and slide the new OEM coil on.

   Reassembly and Clearing Codes

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and use the tractor's diagnostic menu (or a CAN-bus scan tool) to clear the inactive codes. Test the PTO engagement to ensure the code does not return.
