Case IH 5063 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Port Lock Valve (On/Off) Solenoid Supply Shorted To Power
Issue description
The Universal Control Module (UCM) has commanded the loader port lock solenoid to de-energize, but the UCM still detects voltage on the output circuit (greater than 8 Volts at UCM connector X-CN2A, pin 5). This indicates either a signal wire shorted to another voltage source, a shorted solenoid coil, or an internal failure within the UCM. The loader hydraulics are disabled while this code is active, and a red master warning lamp/telltale will illuminate.

Check the cause
Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the diagnostic port, start, and operate the machine to confirm if code 5063 is currently active.
Disconnect the port lock valve solenoid and measure the resistance across the solenoid coil. If resistance is less than 5 Ω (shorted coil cause), the solenoid must be replaced.
If resistance is greater than 5 Ω, inspect the wiring harness for a signal wire shorted to another voltage source.
If the wiring harness tests good and resistance is above 5 Ω, temporarily swap in a known-good UCM and retest to confirm if the original UCM has an internal failure.
Repair steps
Relieve Hydraulic Pressure
Stop the engine. Depress the auxiliary hydraulic interlock override button and leave the operator seat within 30 seconds. Move each control lever in both directions to release any trapped pressure in the hydraulic circuits.
Locate the Valve
Locate the loader control valve assembly. Identify the Port Lock Valve Solenoid.
Disconnect Wiring
Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid (often labeled X-PORT_LK or X-412 in the wiring schematic).
Remove the Solenoid
Carefully unthread the shorted port lock valve solenoid from the loader valve block. Have a shop towel ready to catch any residual hydraulic fluid.
Install the New Solenoid
Thread the replacement solenoid into the valve block and tighten to OEM specifications.
Reconnect and Clear
Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn the ignition on, connect the EST, and clear the fault codes. Operate the loader to ensure code 5063 does not return and hydraulic functions are restored.
