Check the cause
Physical Verification: Walk to the rear of the tractor and verify if it is physically equipped with external rear PTO fender switches.
Service History Check: Determine if the tractor recently had a battery disconnected, a module replaced, or a factory reset performed. Loss of memory power can sometimes revert the PTO configuration settings to their default (disabled) state.
Wiring Inspection: If the tractor does not have fender switches, check the rear wiring harness (specifically circuits 2059 and 2060) for shorts to power or ground, which might trick the module into thinking a switch is installed and being pressed.
Repair steps
Turn the ignition key to the ON position
Turn the ignition key to the ON position to power up the displays.
Access the tractor's configuration/H8 menu
This is done via the instrument cluster, A-pillar display, or the Pro 700/1200 monitor, depending on the model.
Navigate to the PTO configuration sub-menu
Use the navigation 'up' or 'down' keys to navigate to the PTO configuration sub-menu.
Locate the 'Rear PTO fender switch' setting
Scroll through the available options until you locate the 'Rear PTO fender switch' setting.
Change the setting to 'YES'
Change the setting from 'NO' (Disable rear PTO fender switches) to 'YES' (Enable rear PTO fender switches).
Save the desired option
Depress and hold the navigation 'up' or 'down' key (or the 'dimming' key, depending on your specific display) until the screen indicates the selection has been saved.
Perform a full PTO calibration procedure
If the vehicle is fitted with external rear fender PTO switches, this option must be set up before the PTO is calibrated. Once enabled, you must perform a full PTO calibration procedure to clear the code and restore function.
