Case IH 51032 – Aux Remote Controller: Aux Remote Controller failure - Valve Current Enable Protection High
Issue description
The controller has detected the valve current enable protection circuit is reading high. This is typically caused by the control supply voltage being near the upper limit, a bad connection to the battery or improper ground, or an internal controller failure.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- MX Magnum
- STX Steiger
- Case IH MX Series
- Case IH TG Series
- Case IH Magnum
- Case IH Steiger
- Case IH Puma
Check the cause
Check system voltage at the main controller connector (e.g., cavity 1 and 12 of connector C053) to ensure it is not spiking near the upper limit.
Inspect the controller's ground connections to the battery and chassis for a clean, solid connection.
Check the charging system to ensure the alternator is not overcharging the system.
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Aux Remote Controller for chafing, corrosion, or short circuits.
Repair steps
Disconnect battery
Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.
Locate controller
Locate the Aux Remote Controller (location varies by model, often found near the rear remote valve stack or under the cab floor).
Inspect and clean harness connections
Disconnect the main wiring harnesses from the controller and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or spread terminals. Clean with contact cleaner if necessary.
Clean grounds and terminals
Clean and tighten the main chassis grounds and battery terminals.
Test alternator output
Reconnect the battery and test the alternator output with a multimeter to ensure it is regulating voltage correctly (typically around 13.8V - 14.4V).
Evaluate controller
If the wiring, grounds, and system voltage are all within specification and the code remains active, the Aux Remote Controller has failed internally.
Replace controller
Replace the Aux Remote Controller.
Verify repair and calibrate
Clear the fault codes and cycle the remote valves (extend/retract) to verify the repair. Note: A new controller may require calibration via the tractor's display or a dealer service tool.
Parts you might need
(1)Aux Remote Controller / Remote Valve Controller
The exact part number is highly dependent on the specific tractor model, year, and remote valve configuration (e.g., 3-valve vs. 4-valve vs. 5-valve setups). Reference the CNH parts catalog using the machine's specific PIN/Serial Number.
