Case IH 51053 – REMOTE (AUX) CONTROLLER / TMF: Aux 1st Lower Coil solenoid shorted to 12 volts

The circuit responsible for controlling the lowering function of the first auxiliary remote hydraulic valve is receiving unintended 12-volt power. This is typically caused by a wiring harness shorting to a power source or an internal short circuit within the solenoid coil itself.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the 1st auxiliary remote valve for chafing, melting, or pinched wires that could cause a short to a 12-volt power source

   Disconnect the 1st lower coil solenoid and test it with a multimeter for an internal short

   Verify that the internal controller relay has not failed, as this can force the hitch/aux valves to short to 12 volts

   Check tractor hitch and remote calibrations to ensure no data loss or aborted calibrations are contributing to controller errors

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes while servicing the controller circuits.

   Locate the Valve

   Locate the 1st auxiliary remote valve block, typically situated at the rear of the tractor. Identify the specific solenoid responsible for the 'Lower' function.

   Address Wiring Issues

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a short in the wiring harness, repair or splice the damaged wires and secure them in a protective loom away from pinch points.

   Replace the Solenoid

   If the wiring is intact but the solenoid tested as internally shorted, remove the retaining nut/hardware holding the defective 1st lower coil solenoid and slide it off the proportional valve stem.

   Install New Part

   Slide the replacement remote valve solenoid onto the valve stem and secure it.

   Reconnect and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the wiring harness and battery. Use the tractor's diagnostic interface to clear the error codes from the Multifunction Controller.
