Case IH 51054 – Remote (AUX) Controller or Tractor Multifunction (TMF) Controller / Armrest Controller: Aux 1st Raise Coil solenoid shorted to 12 volts.

The controller has detected that the electrical circuit for the 1st auxiliary (remote) valve's raise coil solenoid is receiving 12-volt power when it shouldn't be. This is typically caused by a wiring harness rub-through (short to power), a failed solenoid coil that has internally shorted, or an internal failure within the controller itself.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness running from the AUX/TMF controller to the 1st remote valve block for pinched wires, melted insulation, or rubbing against the chassis.

   Disconnect the harness at the 1st raise coil solenoid and at the controller to check for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture inside the connectors.

   Use a multimeter to test the raise coil signal wire for continuity to power (12V). If voltage is present while disconnected from the controller, the harness is shorted.

   Measure the resistance (ohms) of the 1st raise coil solenoid and compare it to the 1st lower coil or the 2nd remote valve coils. Unusually low resistance indicates an internal short.

   Check the valve block assembly for sticking valves, which can cause the controller to overcompensate.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent accidental electrical spikes.

   Repair Wiring

   If a short to 12V was found in the harness during diagnostics, splice and repair the damaged section of the wire using weather-sealed heat shrink connectors.

   Replace Solenoid

   If the harness tests good but the solenoid failed the resistance test, remove the retaining nut/bolt holding the 1st raise coil solenoid to the remote valve block. Slide the old coil off the valve cartridge and install the new one. Torque the retaining nut to OEM specifications.

   Controller Replacement

   If both the wiring and the solenoid test perfectly fine, the AUX/TMF controller may have suffered an internal driver failure. The controller would need to be replaced and reprogrammed by a dealer.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use the tractor's diagnostic menu or a service tool to clear the inactive fault codes. Test the 1st remote valve to ensure proper operation.
