Case IH 51066 – Remote (Aux) Controller: Aux 2nd Raise solenoid failed open or a short circuit to ground.

The controller is detecting a lack of electrical continuity (an open circuit, such as a broken wire or burnt-out coil) or a direct short to ground on the circuit that controls the "raise" function of the 2nd auxiliary remote hydraulic valve.

   Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at the 2nd remote valve for damaged wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Disconnect the 2nd raise solenoid and measure its resistance with a multimeter. Compare the reading to a known good solenoid (an infinite reading indicates an open/burnt coil, while a zero reading indicates an internal short).

   Check the wiring harness between the solenoid connector and the AUX controller for continuity and ensure the power wire is not shorted to the tractor chassis (ground).

   Swap the 2nd raise solenoid coil with the 1st raise solenoid coil. If the fault code changes to 51056, the solenoid coil is defective. If the fault code remains 51066, the issue is in the wiring harness or the AUX controller itself.

   Relieve hydraulic pressure

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and relieve all hydraulic pressure by cycling the remote levers/switches.

   Locate valve assembly

   Locate the remote valve stack at the rear of the tractor and identify the 2nd remote valve assembly.

   Disconnect wiring

   Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connector from the defective 2nd raise solenoid.

   Remove retaining nut

   Remove the retaining nut or fastener securing the solenoid coil to the hydraulic valve stem/cartridge.

   Remove defective coil

   Slide the defective solenoid coil off the valve stem.

   Install new coil

   Slide the new replacement solenoid coil onto the stem and securely tighten the retaining nut.

   Reconnect wiring

   Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring it clicks into place and is free of debris.

   Test operation

   Start the tractor, clear the stored fault codes from the AUX controller, and test the 2nd remote valve to verify proper operation.
