Case IH 51084 – AUX: Aux 4th Raise Coil solenoid shorted to 12 volts.

This code indicates an electrical fault where the circuit controlling the "raise" function of the 4th auxiliary (remote) hydraulic valve is experiencing a short to a 12-volt power source.

   Trace the wiring harness from the AUX controller to the 4th remote valve solenoid, looking for pinched wires, chafed insulation, or melted areas.

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the 4th remote valve raise solenoid and measure resistance across the coil pins (near zero ohms indicates an internal short).

   With the solenoid disconnected and the tractor key ON, check the harness-side connector for constant 12V on the signal wire to identify a harness short.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Isolate the Fault

   Based on the diagnostic checks, determine if the short is in the wiring harness or the solenoid itself.

   Harness Repair

   If the harness is shorted to 12V, splice and repair the damaged section of the wire using weather-sealed heat-shrink connectors, or replace the affected harness section.

   Solenoid Replacement

   If the solenoid coil is internally shorted: Clean the area around the 4th remote valve to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system. Remove the retaining nut/bolt holding the shorted raise coil solenoid to the proportional valve stem. Slide the old solenoid off and install the new OEM replacement. Secure the retaining nut to the specified torque (do not overtighten, as this can bind the valve).

   Reassembly and Testing

   Reconnect the electrical harness, reconnect the battery, and start the tractor. Clear the stored fault codes from the AUX controller and test the 4th remote valve's raise and lower functions to ensure proper operation.
