Case IH 51093 – AUX / TMF: Aux 5th Lower Coil solenoid shorted to 12 volts

The controller has detected that the voltage on the low side of the 5th auxiliary remote valve's lower solenoid coil is higher than expected when the valve is commanded ON. The underlying condition is typically caused by an internal short within the solenoid coil itself, a wiring harness shorted to a 12-volt power source, or an internal failure of the controller.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors at the 5th remote valve assembly for physical damage, bent or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires.

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the 5th lower solenoid. Use a multimeter to check the wiring harness between the solenoid and the AUX/TMF controller for a short to a 12-volt power source.

   Test the resistance of the 5th lower solenoid coil to determine if it is internally shorted.

   If the wiring harness and the solenoid coil both test good, the fault may be an internal failure of the AUX/TMF controller.

   Turn off the tractor, lower all implements to the ground, and disconnect the battery to ensure electrical safety.

   Locate the auxiliary remote valve stack at the rear of the tractor and identify the 5th remote valve section.

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the 5th lower solenoid coil.

   If your diagnostic tests revealed a wiring short to 12V, trace the harness back toward the controller, locate the chafed or damaged section of the wire, and repair or replace the harness.

   If the solenoid coil was found to be internally shorted, remove the retaining nut securing the coil to the valve cartridge.

   Slide the old solenoid coil off the valve stem and install the new replacement coil.

   Reinstall the retaining nut and reconnect the electrical harness to the new solenoid.

   Reconnect the battery, clear the fault codes via the tractor's diagnostic menu or service tool, and test the 5th remote valve to verify the repair.
