Case IH 51095 – AUX (Auxiliary Valve Controller): Aux 5th Lower solenoid failed open or short circuit.
Issue description
The tractor's control system has detected an electrical anomaly in the circuit responsible for operating the 'Lower' (or retract) function of the 5th auxiliary hydraulic remote valve. The system is seeing either an open circuit (such as a broken wire, disconnected plug, or burnt-out internal solenoid coil) or a short circuit to ground.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- MX Magnum
- MX Magnum Series
- TG Series
- Steiger / STX Series
Check the cause
Visually inspect the 5th auxiliary remote valve block wiring harness and connector for physical damage, chafing, or dirt/moisture ingress
Disconnect the harness from the solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, melting, or being pushed out of the connector housing
Measure the resistance across the two pins of the solenoid coil using a digital multimeter (infinite/OL indicates open, near 0 ohms indicates shorted)
Check the wiring harness for continuity back to the AUX controller and test for a short to the chassis ground (if coil resistance is normal)
Repair steps
Safety First
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, engage the parking brake, and relieve all hydraulic system pressure by cycling the remote levers/switches with the key on (engine off).
Disconnect Power
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position to protect the controllers.
Remove the Coil
Disconnect the electrical plug from the 5th remote lower solenoid. Remove the retaining nut at the top of the solenoid stem.
Replace the Coil
Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve cartridge stem. (Unless the valve itself is leaking or sticking mechanically, you do not need to remove the hydraulic cartridge from the valve block). Slide the new coil onto the stem.
Reassembly
Install and tighten the retaining nut (do not overtighten, as this can distort the coil housing). Reconnect the electrical harness plug securely.
Clear Codes and Test
Turn the battery power back on. Turn the ignition key to the ON position, access the tractor's diagnostic menu via the instrumentation cluster or Pro/IntelliView monitor, and clear the inactive 51095 fault code. Start the tractor and actuate the 5th remote to verify the repair.
Parts you might need
(1)Auxiliary Remote Valve Solenoid Coil (Lower)
Exact part number varies heavily depending on the specific tractor model and the OEM supplier. Provide your tractor's PIN/Serial Number to your Case IH parts dealer to ensure you get the correct coil.
