Case IH 51101 – AUX (Auxiliary / Remote Valve) Controller: Invalid Software Instruction Executed

This fault code indicates that the controller has attempted to process an invalid software command or experienced an internal logic error. This is typically caused by a software glitch, corrupted flash memory, or a processor failure within the module.

   Cycle Power: Clear the fault code and cycle the tractor's ignition key. Check if the code is active or merely a stored historical code from a previous voltage drop.

   CAN Bus Check: Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check the AUX controller status and carry out a CAN bus communication check.

   Voltage Supply Inspection: Inspect the power and ground circuits feeding the AUX controller. Low battery voltage or a poor ground can cause the controller's processor to reset or glitch, triggering invalid software instructions.

   Software Reflash

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port. Attempt to reflash or update the AUX controller with the latest software version to overwrite any corrupted memory.

   Controller Replacement

   If the EST cannot communicate with the controller, the software update fails, or the 51101 code immediately returns after a successful reflash, the internal memory/processor of the AUX controller has permanently failed. The controller must be replaced.

   Recalibration

   After installing a new AUX controller, you must perform the remote valve calibration procedure. This involves calibrating the remote levers (pulling into the raise/detent positions) and the flow control potentiometers using the EST or the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu.
