Case IH 51102 – Auxiliary Valve Controller (AUX): Invalid Software Instruction Executed

This fault code indicates an internal software or memory error within the controller. The module attempted to process a command or logic instruction that was corrupted, unrecognized, or invalid.

   Power Cycle: Turn the tractor off, wait 30 seconds for the modules to power down completely, and turn the key back on. Check if the code moves from 'Active' to 'Stored.'

   Voltage Check: Check the battery voltage and inspect the ground connections to the Auxiliary Valve Controller. Low voltage or voltage spikes can cause the processor to misread software instructions.

   Check for Associated Codes: Look for other codes related to the 5-volt reference or CAN bus communication (e.g., 51301 or 51302 On-Board logic voltage out of range) which might indicate a power supply issue to the board.

   Software Version Check: Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify the current software version on the Auxiliary Valve Controller.

   Clear the Code

   Using the Case IH EST or the tractor's onboard diagnostic cluster, clear the fault codes from the AUX controller.

   Test Operation

   Operate the remote valves. If the code does not return, it was a transient software glitch.

   Reflash the Controller

   If the code returns immediately, the software on the controller may be corrupted. Use the Case IH EST to reflash (update or reinstall) the software on the Auxiliary Valve Controller.

   Replace the Controller

   If the EST cannot communicate with the controller to flash it, or if the 51102 code returns immediately after a successful software flash, the controller's internal memory (ROM/RAM) or microprocessor has physically failed. The Auxiliary Valve Controller must be replaced.

   Recalibrate

   After installing a new controller, use the EST or the tractor's instrument cluster to perform the remote valve calibration procedure so the new controller learns the spool travel limits.
