51103

Case IH 51103 – AUX Controller (Auxiliary / Remote Valve Controller): Invalid Software Instruction Executed

Issue description

The controller has attempted to process a software command that it does not recognize or cannot execute. This is primarily a software problem, with a small chance of being a hardware problem.

Applies to these machines

  • MX Magnum
  • MX Magnum Series
  • TG Series
  • Steiger Series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect Connector C053 on the Auxiliary/Remote Valve Controller

  2. Verify power and ground connections to the battery, checking for corrosion, loose pins, or damaged wires at the C053 harness

Repair steps

  1. Secure Connections

Make sure the AUX controller has a good connection (C053) to the battery and is properly grounded.

  2. Clear the Code

Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or in-cab diagnostic menu to clear the fault code.

  3. Power Cycle

Shut down the tractor completely, wait a moment, and restart the machine.

  4. Evaluate

If the fault code does not return, the issue was likely a transient voltage/grounding glitch.

  5. Escalate

If the same fault code appears again immediately upon restart, contact your district PSM (Product Support Manager). The controller may require a software re-flash by a dealer before hardware replacement is deemed necessary.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Auxiliary / Remote Valve Controller (AUX Controller)

OEM part numbers vary heavily depending on the specific tractor model and the number of rear remotes equipped. Pull the exact part number directly off the existing controller module.

  • C053 Electrical Connector / Harness

If the connector is corroded, a pigtail or harness repair kit may be required.
