51106

Case IH 51106 – AUX Controller: Invalid Software Instruction Executed

Issue description

The controller attempted to process a software command that it could not recognize or execute. This is usually caused by a software glitch or memory corruption, though there is a small chance it is caused by an internal hardware failure within the controller.

Applies to these machines

  • MX Magnum
  • Case IH MX Magnum Series
  • Case IH TG Series

Check the cause

  1. Relay Check: Open the controller cover on the back of the tractor. Turn the key on for more than two seconds, then turn it off. Listen or feel for a relay 'click.' If it clicks, the internal relay is functioning normally.

  2. Connection Check: Verify that the AUX controller has a solid, clean connection to the battery (specifically at connector C053).

  3. Ground Check: Ensure the controller is properly grounded, as poor grounds can cause intermittent software execution errors.

Repair steps

  1. Inspect and clean connections

Inspect and clean the battery and ground connections at connector C053 on the AUX controller.

  2. Clear fault code

Using your diagnostic tool or the tractor's instrumentation panel, clear the fault code.

  3. Restart engine

Shut down the tractor completely, wait a moment, and restart the engine.

  4. Monitor system

Monitor the system to see if the code returns. If the code does not return, it was likely a transient software glitch.

  5. Contact dealer

If the fault code 51106 appears again, contact your district Product Support Manager (PSM) or local dealer. The controller will either need to be reprogrammed (flashed with updated software) or physically replaced if the hardware has failed.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Auxiliary (AUX) Valve Controller / Remote Valve Controller

Exact part numbers depend heavily on the specific tractor model and Product Identification Number (P.I.N.).
