51107

Case IH 51107 – AUX Controller: Invalid Software Instruction Executed

Issue description

This code indicates an internal logic or memory error within the controller's microprocessor. The module has attempted to process a corrupted, unrecognized, or invalid software command. This is typically caused by corrupted firmware, an internal hardware failure within the module's memory, or a severe voltage spike that disrupted the processor's logic.

Applies to these machines

  • MX Magnum
  • Case IH MX Series
  • Case IH TG Series (Magnum)
  • Case IH Steiger Series
  • Case IH Puma Series

Check the cause

  1. Clear the fault codes using the tractor's display or a diagnostic tool and cycle the ignition key off and back on to see if the code is a hard fault or an intermittent glitch.

  2. Check the battery voltage and inspect the ground connections to the AUX controller for low voltage, bad grounds, or alternator voltage spikes.

  3. Inspect the CAN bus communication lines and the main harness plugging into the AUX controller for moisture, corrosion, or backed-out pins.

  4. Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify if the AUX controller is still communicating on the CAN bus.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical damage.

  2. Inspect Connections

Locate the AUX controller (usually mounted near the rear remote valves or under the cab, depending on the model). Disconnect the harness and check for water intrusion or pin damage.

  3. Attempt Software Flash

Reconnect the battery and connect the Case IH EST. Attempt to re-flash or update the software on the AUX controller. Sometimes rewriting the firmware can resolve a corrupted memory sector.

  4. Replace the Controller

If the EST cannot communicate with the module, the software flash fails, or the 51107 code immediately returns after a successful flash, the controller has suffered a permanent internal failure and must be replaced.

  5. Install and Calibrate

Install the new Auxiliary Hydraulic Control Unit. You must use the Case IH EST to program the new module to the tractor's CAN network and perform the remote valve calibration procedure so the tractor recognizes the new valve limits.
