Case IH 51114 – AUX Controller: Invalid Software Instruction Executed
Issue description
The controller attempted to process an invalid software command, encountered a logic error, or suffered a software crash. This is most commonly a software problem, though there is a small chance it is caused by an internal hardware failure within the controller.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- MX Magnum
- Case IH MX Magnum Series
- Case IH TG Series
Check the cause
Verify power and ground connections to the AUX controller, specifically checking connector C053.
Perform a relay 'click' test: open the controller cover on the back of the tractor, turn the ignition key ON for more than two seconds, then turn it OFF. Listen or feel for a relay click (no click indicates internal failure).
Check if the problem is intermittent, as temperature changes can act on a progressively deteriorating controller.
Repair steps
Inspect Wiring Harness
Check all connections to the remote hydraulic controller (especially C053). Inspect the connector ends for damage, bent pins, or dislocated pins.
Clear and Reset
Clear the fault code from the system. Shut down the tractor completely, then restart it.
Evaluate
If the fault code does not return, it may have been a temporary software glitch.
Address Persistent Codes
If the fault code 51114 immediately returns after the restart and the wiring/grounds are confirmed to be good, the issue is internal to the AUX controller.
Reflash or Replace
Contact a district Product Support Manager (PSM) or authorized dealer to see if the controller's software can be reflashed. If it cannot be reflashed, or if it failed the relay 'click' test, the AUX controller must be replaced.
