Case IH 51118 – Remote (AUX) Controller: Invalid Software Instruction Executed

This fault code indicates a software or memory error where the controller has attempted to execute an invalid software command. This typically means the internal software has crashed, encountered a bug, or the controller's memory has become corrupted.

   Use the tractor's display or the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify the active code. Clear the fault code and cycle the ignition key to see if the code returns immediately.

   Perform a CAN bus communication check to ensure the AUX controller is communicating properly with the rest of the tractor network.

   Use the EST to check the current software version on the AUX controller to see if an update or patch is available to resolve the software crash.

   Software Re-flash

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port. Attempt to re-flash or update the AUX controller with the latest software version.

   Controller Replacement

   If the software update fails, or if the code returns immediately after a successful flash, the AUX controller has suffered an internal hardware/memory failure and must be replaced.

   Recalibration

   If the AUX controller is replaced, you must perform the AUX remote calibration procedure. This involves using the EST or the tractor's armrest display to calibrate the remote levers (putting each remote in the extend, retract, and float detent positions) and setting the flow control potentiometers.
