Case IH 51137 – AUX Controller: Invalid Software Instruction Executed
Issue description
The controller has attempted to process a software command that it does not recognize or cannot execute. This is almost always a software-related glitch, though there is a small chance it indicates an internal hardware failure within the module.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- MX Magnum
- Case IH MX Magnum Series (MX210, MX230, MX255, MX285)
- Case IH Steiger Series
Check the cause
Inspect the AUX controller's main harness connection (specifically connector C053) to the battery for a voltage drop or poor ground.
Ensure there is no interference or shorting on the CAN bus network communicating with the AUX controller.
Connect the dealer Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check the AUX controller status and see if the module is communicating properly or if it has dropped offline.
Repair steps
Secure Connections
Clean and tighten the battery connections and the ground wire leading to the AUX controller (C053).
Clear the Code
Use the tractor's diagnostic menu or an EST to clear the fault code.
Power Cycle
Shut down the tractor completely, wait a few moments, and restart the engine.
Evaluate
If the fault code does not return, it was a temporary software glitch likely caused by a voltage fluctuation.
Re-flash or Replace
If the fault code immediately returns upon restart, the software is corrupted or the hardware has failed. Have a dealer re-flash the AUX controller with the latest software. If the re-flash fails, the AUX controller must be replaced.
Parts you might need
(1)Auxiliary / Remote Valve Controller (AUX Controller)
Specific part numbers vary heavily based on the exact model and serial number break. If a new AUX controller is purchased, it must be calibrated to the tractor's remote levers and flow settings using the dealer EST tool.
