Case IH 51139 – Remote (AUX) Controller: Invalid Software Instruction Executed
Issue description
The controller encountered an unexpected or invalid command in its programming logic. This is primarily a software problem, though there is a small chance it is caused by a hardware failure.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- MX Magnum
- Case IH MX Series (Magnum)
- Case IH TG Series
- Case IH Steiger
Check the cause
Verify that the AUX controller has a solid connection to the battery and is properly grounded, specifically checking connector C053
Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check the AUX controller status and perform a CAN bus communication check
Clear the fault code from the system, shut down the tractor completely, and restart it to see if the code is an active hard fault or a stored anomaly
Repair steps
Inspect Wiring
Locate the Remote (AUX) Controller and inspect the wiring harness for any signs of chafing, corrosion, or damage.
Service Connector C053
Disconnect connector C053. Clean the pins with electrical contact cleaner, ensure the ground wire is securely fastened to the chassis without paint or rust interference, and reconnect it firmly.
System Reset
Clear the fault code using your diagnostic tool. Turn the tractor off, wait for the modules to power down completely, and restart the engine.
Software Flash / Replacement
If the fault code returns immediately upon restart, have a dealer re-flash the AUX controller with the latest software. If the flash fails or the hardware is internally shorted, the controller must be replaced.
Parts you might need
(1)Remote Valve Controller / Auxiliary (AUX) Controller
Exact part numbers vary heavily depending on the specific tractor model and serial number break. If a new AUX controller is installed, it will require calibration (such as lever and flow control calibration) using the EST or the tractor's armrest diagnostic interface.
