Case IH 51145 – AUX (Remote Auxiliary) Controller or Armrest Controller: Invalid Software Instruction Executed
Issue description
This code indicates an internal logic, memory, or software error within the controller. The module has attempted to process a corrupted, unrecognized, or invalid software command. This is typically caused by a software glitch, memory corruption (EEPROM/Flash failure), or an internal hardware failure within the module's processor.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- MX Magnum
- Case IH MX Series
- Case IH TG Series
- Case IH Magnum Series
- Case IH Puma Series
Check the cause
Check the battery voltage and inspect the harness grounds for the AUX/Armrest controller. Voltage spikes or severe drops (low voltage) can cause the processor to scramble data and throw invalid instruction codes. Look for associated codes like 51301 (On-Board logic voltage out of range Low).
Attempt to clear the fault code using the tractor's diagnostic menu or an Electronic Service Tool (EST). If the code was caused by a temporary voltage glitch, it may not return.
Check for accompanying memory failure codes (e.g., 10030 Controller Memory Error or loss of calibration data). If calibration data is wiped, the controller's internal memory chip is likely failing.
Repair steps
Software Re-flash
Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop to the machine's diagnostic port. Check the current software version on the AUX/Armrest controller and flash it with the latest software update from the manufacturer.
Re-calibrate
If the flash is successful, perform the mandatory calibration procedures for the remote valves and the hitch.
Controller Replacement
If the EST cannot communicate with the controller, the software flash fails, or the 51145 code immediately returns upon rebooting the tractor, the controller has suffered a permanent internal hardware failure.
Remove faulty controller
Remove the faulty AUX or Armrest controller.
Install replacement module
Install the replacement module.
Program and calibrate
Use the EST to program the new controller to the tractor's specific configuration and perform all remote and hitch calibrations.
Parts you might need
(1)Remote AUX Controller / Armrest Controller
Must be ordered specific to the tractor's serial number and will require dealer programming (EST) upon installation to function correctly.
