51200

Case IH 51200 – Armrest Controller (ARM): Aux remote valve LIMIT SET switch is failed in the Armrest Controller.

Issue description

The system has detected an electrical failure, short, or open circuit in the switch used to set the flow/travel limits for the auxiliary remote hydraulic valves.

Applies to these machines

  • MX Magnum
  • MX Magnum Series
  • Steiger Series
  • Quadtrac Series
  • Puma Series
  • Maxxum Series
  • Optum Series

Check the cause

  1. Verify battery voltage to ensure low system voltage is not causing the armrest controller to log false switch faults.

  2. Inspect the limit set switch on the armrest console for physical damage, sticking buttons, or accumulated dirt/debris.

  3. Remove the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness leading to the remote valve switches for pinched wires, chafing, disconnected plugs, or corrosion.

  4. Perform a continuity test on the switch using a multimeter to verify it does not read open when pressed or shorted when released.

Repair steps

  1. Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Remove the retaining screws securing the top cover/bezel of the armrest control console.

Remove the retaining screws securing the top cover/bezel of the armrest control console.

  3. Carefully lift the armrest cover.

Carefully lift the armrest cover. Do not pull too hard, as multiple wiring harnesses are connected to the underside.

  4. Locate the auxiliary remote valve switch assembly containing the failed limit set switch.

Locate the auxiliary remote valve switch assembly containing the failed limit set switch.

  5. Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the faulty switch assembly.

Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the faulty switch assembly.

  6. Unbolt or unclip the switch module from the armrest housing.

Unbolt or unclip the switch module from the armrest housing. (On some models, the remote switches are replaced as a complete multi-spool block assembly, while on others, individual switches or cartridges can be swapped).

  7. Snap or bolt the new OEM switch assembly into the armrest housing.

Snap or bolt the new OEM switch assembly into the armrest housing.

  8. Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

  9. Reinstall the armrest cover and secure the retaining screws.

Reinstall the armrest cover and secure the retaining screws.

  10. Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, clear the stored fault codes, and test the auxiliary remote limit set function.

Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on, clear the stored fault codes via the tractor's display monitor, and test the auxiliary remote limit set function to verify the repair.
