Case IH 51250 – Armrest Controller: Aux 5th remote valve control switch is failed in the Armrest Controller
Issue description
This indicates an electrical failure, short, or open circuit in the physical switch (extend/retract) used to control the 5th auxiliary hydraulic remote valve, or a failure in the wiring circuit connecting it to the controller.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- MX Magnum
- Case IH Magnum Series
- Case IH MX Series
- Case IH Steiger Series
Check the cause
Inspect the 5th remote valve control switch on the armrest console for physical damage, sticking, or debris preventing it from returning to the neutral position.
Remove the armrest console cover and inspect the wiring harness connecting the 5th remote switch to the Armrest Controller for pinched wires, chafing, or loose/corroded connector pins.
Use a multimeter to test the switch for proper continuity and resistance across its extend, retract, and neutral positions.
Verify if other codes are present (such as AUX 51261 or 51262 for sensor supply out of range). If multiple switches or sensors are failing simultaneously, the issue may be a shared ground, a 5-volt reference supply issue, or an internal failure of the Armrest Controller itself.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Access the Switch
Remove the retaining screws holding the right-hand armrest control console cover/panel in place.
Disconnect
Carefully lift the panel and locate the 5th remote valve control switch. Unplug the electrical harness connector from the bottom of the switch.
Remove the Switch
Depress the retaining tabs or remove the mounting nuts (e.g., 3/8-32 nuts) holding the switch/potentiometer in the console panel and push the switch out.
Install the New Part
Insert the new switch into the panel until it clicks into place or secure it with the retaining nuts. Reconnect the electrical harness.
Reassemble
Reinstall the armrest console cover and secure the screws.
Test
Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and clear the inactive fault codes. Test the 5th remote valve operation to ensure the code does not return and the hydraulics function correctly.
