Case IH 5134 – Universal Control Module (UCM) / Vehicle Control Module (VCM): Right Joystick Right-Left Axis (ISO/H Pattern) Pin B Open Or Shorted To Ground.

The control module is not receiving the correct voltage signal from the right joystick's right-to-left movement sensor. The system has detected that the circuit on 'Pin B' is either completely broken (open circuit) or the wire is touching the machine's chassis/ground (shorted to ground), preventing the machine from interpreting right/left operator commands.

   Inspect the wiring harness exiting the base of the right joystick for chafing, pinched wires in the armrest pivot points, or rodent damage

   Disconnect the right joystick connector and inspect Pin B (and surrounding pins) for corrosion, moisture ingress, bent pins, or pins pushed back into the housing

3. 3

   Test for a short to ground: With the joystick and control module disconnected, check for continuity between the Pin B wire and chassis ground

   Test for an open circuit: Check for continuity on the Pin B wire from the joystick connector to the corresponding pin on the control module connector

   If the wiring harness tests perfectly, suspect an internal failure of the joystick's right-left axis sensor (potentiometer or Hall-effect sensor)

   Safety First

   Park the machine on a level surface, lower all attachments to the ground, turn off the engine, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Joystick

   Remove the side console panels or armrest covers to expose the base and wiring of the right joystick.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic tests revealed a broken or shorted wire, repair the damaged section of the harness using proper soldering and heat-shrink tubing, or replace the affected harness section.

   Replace the Joystick (If Internal Failure)

   Disconnect the electrical connector(s) at the base of the right joystick. Remove the mounting bolts or screws securing the joystick assembly to the armrest bracket. Lift the old joystick out. Install the new joystick assembly and secure it with the mounting hardware. Reconnect the electrical connector(s).

   Reassembly and Calibration

   Reinstall all plastic covers and armrest components. Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and use the machine's diagnostic menu or the dealer Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear the inactive fault code 5134. You will likely need to perform a joystick calibration procedure so the control module learns the new center, minimum, and maximum axis positions.
