Case IH 51402 – Auxiliary Valve Controller: Implement feedback #1 out of range High

The control module is receiving a signal voltage from the implement feedback circuit that exceeds the maximum expected threshold. This is typically caused by a short to power, an open circuit in the sensor ground, a damaged harness, or an internal failure within the controller itself.

   Inspect the harness between connectors C340 and C054 for damaged wires, bent pins, or dislocated pins inside the connector housings.

   Perform a Controller Relay 'Click' Test by turning the ignition key ON for more than two seconds, then OFF, and listening for a relay click inside the controller.

   Perform a voltage test by turning the 1st remote valve ON and checking for approximately 12 volts at pin 6 and low voltage at pin 7 of connector C054.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Inspect and Repair Wiring

   Locate connectors C340 and C054 on the implement feedback harness. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. If any wires are chafed or shorted to power, splice and repair the harness as necessary.

   Test the Circuit

   Reconnect the battery. Perform the voltage test at connector C054 (Pin 6 and Pin 7) while commanding the 1st remote valve.

   Replace the Controller

   If the harness tests perfectly but the voltage output is wrong, or if the controller failed the 'click' test, remove the mounting hardware for the Remote Hydraulic Controller and install a replacement unit.

   Calibrate and Clear

   After replacing the controller or repairing the harness, use an electronic service tool to clear the 51402 fault code. You may need to run the remote valve calibration procedure so the new controller learns the valve starting currents.
