Case IH 51412 – Auxiliary Valve Controller (AUX67 or AUX89) or Tractor Multi-Function (TMF) / Armrest Controller (ARU): Implement feedback #2 out of range High
Issue description
The feedback sensor for Implement #2 (which can be an auxiliary remote valve potentiometer, a hitch position sensor, or a 3-point hitch draft pin sensor) is sending a voltage signal to the controller that is above the normal operating parameters, typically indicating a short to a power source, an open ground circuit, or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the Implement #2 feedback sensor (draft pin or remote valve potentiometer), wiring harness, and connector for physical damage, corrosion, or pushed-out pins.
Test the ground circuit by disconnecting the sensor and using a multimeter to check for continuity to the chassis (an open ground is the most common cause of an out-of-range high code).
Test the signal wire to ensure it is not shorted to a 12V or 5V power source within the wiring harness.
Verify that the sensor is receiving the correct 5V reference voltage from the controller.
If applicable, swap the Implement #1 and #2 sensors. If the fault code changes to Implement #1 (e.g., 51402), the sensor has failed internally. If it remains 51412, the issue is in the wiring harness or controller.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Sensor
Locate the faulty Implement #2 feedback sensor. If it is a draft pin, it will be located at the lower link arms of the 3-point hitch. If it is a remote valve potentiometer, it will be on the rear hydraulic remote valve stack.
Remove the Sensor
Disconnect the electrical harness. Remove the retaining bolts, snap rings, or locking hardware holding the sensor or draft pin in place. Slide the faulty component out.
Install the New Part
Clean the mounting area. Insert the new sensor/pin and secure it with the retaining hardware.
Reconnect
Plug the wiring harness back into the sensor. Ensure the connector clicks and locks securely.
Re-energize and Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery and turn the ignition on. Use the tractor's display monitor to clear the inactive fault codes.
Calibration
You must perform a Hitch Controller Calibration or Remote Valve Calibration procedure via the tractor's display monitor. This teaches the controller the new sensor's minimum and maximum voltage limits.
