Case IH 517743-03 - UCM – UCM: Rear hitch position sensor voltage high

The rear hitch position sensor voltage is out of range high (e.g., above 4.75 volts). This condition is generally caused by a faulty sensor, damaged wiring (such as a short to power or an open ground circuit), or a malfunction in the control unit.

   Inspect the wiring harness and the 3-pin connector at the rear hitch position sensor for any physical damage, loose connections, or corrosion

   Test the sensor's output voltage with a multimeter to confirm if it is operating within the specified range or if it is stuck high (above 4.75V)

   Check for an external power supply shorted to the controller power supply

   Perform diagnostic checks

   Perform the diagnostic voltage and wiring checks listed above.

   Replace sensor

   If the wiring is intact but the sensor voltage remains out of range high, replace the faulty rotary potentiometer sensor.

   Calibrate sensor

   After replacing the sensor or repairing the wiring, you must perform a calibration of the rear hitch position sensor following the manufacturer's guidelines to restore proper Electronic Draft Control (EDC) function.
