Case IH 517761-14 - UCM – UCM: Incorrect electro-hydraulic backup pump configuration

Issue description

The control module is detecting that the software configuration, calibration parameters, or hardware settings for the electro-hydraulic backup pump do not match the expected values for the tractor's specific build.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Magnum 400 AFS Connect

Check the cause

  1. Verify recent service history to see if the UCM, AFS display, or electro-hydraulic backup pump was recently replaced, or if the tractor's software was recently flashed.

  2. Check configuration settings using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify the vehicle configuration file (VCF) matches the factory build sheet.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connections between the UCM and the electro-hydraulic backup pump for security and damage.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Turn key ON

Turn the key to the ON position (engine off).

  3. Navigate to UCM menu

Open the EST software and navigate to the UCM (Universal Control Module) programming and configuration menu.

  4. Review configuration

Review the current configuration for the electro-hydraulic backup pump.

  5. Download/apply VCF

Download or apply the correct Vehicle Configuration File (VCF) from the Case IH eTIM portal that matches the tractor's Product Identification Number (PIN).

  6. Write configuration

Follow the on-screen prompts to write the correct configuration to the UCM.

  7. Perform calibrations

Perform any required end-of-line calibrations for the backup pump or steering/braking system as prompted by the EST.

  8. Cycle power

Cycle the key off for 30 seconds, then turn it back on.

  9. Clear fault codes

Clear the fault codes and verify that 517761-14 does not return.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Electro-hydraulic backup pump

Typically not required unless the pump has failed in a way that prevents configuration.

  • Universal Control Module (UCM)

Typically not required unless the module is internally corrupted.
