517959-03 - DEC

Case IH 517959-03 - DEC – DEC: Transmission A2 clutch solenoid electrical circuit fault voltage above normal

Issue description

The controller has detected that the voltage in the A2 clutch solenoid circuit is higher than the expected normal range, typically indicating a short circuit to a power source, an open circuit, or a failed solenoid coil.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Steiger AFS Connect

Check the cause

  1. Note: The A2 clutch solenoid is the first of 11 transmission components calibrated; a fault here will halt or prevent successful transmission calibration.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness between the DEC and the A2 clutch solenoid for a short circuit to a power source

  3. Check the circuit for an open circuit condition

  4. Inspect connections for poor or corroded contacts

  5. Check the A2 clutch solenoid coil for internal failure

Repair steps

  1. Repair wiring

Repair any shorted or open wiring in the A2 clutch solenoid circuit.

  2. Replace solenoid

Replace the A2 clutch solenoid if the coil is internally failed.

  3. Calibrate transmission

Rerun the automated transmission calibration sequence via the multi-function handle/display to ensure the A2 clutch solenoid (and the subsequent 10 components) calibrate successfully.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Transmission A2 Clutch Solenoid / Transmission Solenoid Valve

Depending on the exact transmission build, Case IH uses various PWM transmission solenoid valves (e.g., 48055262 or 87729558R). Exact fitment must be verified with a dealer.
