   Make a note of the error code using the AFS Pro 1200 display or the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST). Clear the code and test the encoder dial/Home switch for normal operation to see if the fault is intermittent.

   Inspect the physical condition of the Case IH dial button encoder and the Home shortcut keys on the Multicontroller armrest for sticking, debris, or liquid damage.

   Access the inside of the armrest and check all wiring harnesses connecting the encoder/Home switch to the Armrest Control Module (ACM). Ensure connectors are fully seated, not damaged, and that no pins are bent or pushed out.

   Use the EST to verify the ACM software version. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause erratic circuit faults; ensure the ACM is flashed to the latest version (e.g., software version 1.1.0.0 or 1.2.0.0 depending on the exact model).

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect battery power to prevent electrical shorts during disassembly.

   Access the Armrest

   Carefully remove the trim panels on the Multicontroller armrest to expose the internal Armrest Control Module (ACM) and the underside of the encoder dial assembly.

   Test the Switch Circuit

   Disconnect the Home switch/encoder harness from the ACM. Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the Home switch when pressed.

   Replace Faulty Component

   If the switch fails the continuity test or is physically broken, replace the encoder dial/Home switch assembly. If the switch and wiring test perfectly but the code remains active, the fault lies within the Armrest Control Module (ACM) itself, which will need to be replaced.

   Reassembly and Calibration

   Reconnect all harnesses and reinstall the armrest trim. Reconnect battery power.

   Clear Codes

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST), clear the 518412-02 fault code, and perform any necessary ACM configuration/calibration if a new module was installed.
