Case IH 518418-14 - VCM – VCM: Brand identification from armrest does not match pin based brand
Issue description
The Vehicle Control Module (VCM) is receiving a brand identification signal or data packet from the armrest controller that conflicts with the physical, pin-based brand identification wiring harness configuration.
Applies to these machines
1 machine- MAGNUM AFS Connect
Check the cause
Verify the software configuration of the VCM and the armrest controller to ensure they are programmed for the correct equipment brand (Case IH).
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the armrest to the VCM, specifically looking at the brand-identification pins. Ensure no pins are bent, corroded, or shorted to ground/voltage.
Verify if there is a software mismatch between the armrest and the VCM that might be causing a communication error regarding brand ID.
Repair steps
Disconnect battery power
Disconnect battery power before servicing the VCM or armrest connections.
Disconnect harness
Disconnect the main harness at the armrest and the VCM.
Perform continuity test
Perform a continuity test on the brand-identification pins between the armrest and the VCM.
Repair or replace wiring
Repair or replace any damaged wiring in the harness.
Re-flash or replace module
If the wiring is intact and the pins match the correct Case IH configuration, the armrest controller or VCM may require a software re-flash by a dealer, or replacement of the armrest control module.
