Case IH 518432-02 - ACM – ACM: Multi function handle end of row step switch circuit fault.

The system has detected a circuit fault (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power, typically denoted by the "-02" FMI code) in the End of Row step switch. This switch is located on the MultiFunction Handle and is used to start the recording or playback of a headland turn sequence, pause the recording process, or default as autoguidance engagement.

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the MultiFunction Handle to the Armrest Control Module (ACM) for chafing, pinched wires, or breaks.

   Check the electrical connectors at both the MultiFunction Handle and the ACM (such as the 34-cavity female ACM connector) for loose pins, corrosion, or poor tension.

   Perform a continuity and voltage test on the End of Row step switch circuit to determine if the fault is an open circuit or a short.

   Power down machine

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during service.

   Access components

   Remove the necessary armrest trim panels to access the Armrest Control Module (ACM) and the base of the MultiFunction Handle.

   Test the switch and handle

   Disconnect the MultiFunction Handle harness. Test the specific pins for the End of Row step switch for proper continuity when the button is pressed.

   Replace the handle

   If the switch itself has failed internally, the MultiFunction Handle (joystick) must be replaced as a unit.

   Repair wiring

   If the handle tests good, repair or replace any damaged sections of the wiring harness between the handle and the ACM.

   Replace the ACM

   If the wiring and the handle are both functioning correctly, the fault may lie within the Armrest Control Module itself, requiring replacement of the ECU.

   Reassemble and clear codes

   Reconnect all harnesses, restore battery power, and use the diagnostic display (e.g., AFS Pro 700/1200) or a service tool to clear the 518432-02 fault code. Test the End of Row step switch to verify the repair.
