Case IH 518434-14 - ACM – ACM: Incorrect multi function handle keypad configuration
Issue description
The control module has detected a mismatch between the software configuration for the MultiFunction Handle (MFH) keypad and the physical hardware installed, or it is receiving unexpected parameters from the keypad on the CAN bus.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Case IH Magnum AFS Connect Series (models 250, 280, 310, 340, 380, 400, and Rowtrac variants)
- Case IH Steiger & Quadtrac AFS Connect Series
- Case IH Patriot 50 Series Sprayers
Check the cause
Check for related active ACM fault codes (such as 518434-19 or 518434-13) which could point to a physical connection failure rather than a configuration error
Verify the current ACM configuration using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to ensure software settings match the physical hardware options installed
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the MultiFunction Handle and the Armrest Control Module (ACM) for damaged wires, loose pins, or corrosion
Repair steps
Connect diagnostic tool
Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's CAN1/ISOBUS diagnostic connector.
Navigate software
Open the EST software, select the "Configuration" item in the toolbar, and navigate to "General Configuration".
Review configuration
Access the ACM (Armrest Control Module) settings and review the MultiFunction Handle keypad configuration.
Reconfigure settings
Reconfigure the keypad options to correctly match the installed equipment and save the configuration to the ACM.
Inspect and clean connector
If the configuration was already correct, disconnect the MultiFunction Handle, inspect the connector pins for damage, clean them, and reconnect.
Replace component
If the fault persists after verifying the wiring and configuration, the internal circuitry of the MultiFunction Handle has likely failed and the handle must be replaced.
Clear codes and test
Clear the error codes using the EST, cycle the key, and test the programmable hot key buttons on the handle to ensure normal operation.
