Case IH 518505-06 - BCM – BCM: Cab pressure blower motor control signal - short circuit to ground

The control module has detected that the voltage on the control signal circuit for the cab pressurizer blower motor is lower than expected, indicating that the wire is shorting directly to the chassis ground, or there is an internal short within the blower motor itself.

   Ensure the ignition key is in the OFF position before disconnecting any electrical connectors to prevent module damage

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the cab pressure blower motor (typically located in the HVAC pressurizer assembly under the cab roof) to isolate the motor

   Using a multimeter, test the control signal wire on the harness side for continuity to ground. If continuity to ground is present while disconnected from the motor, the wiring harness is chafed or pinched and is shorting against the frame

   If the harness tests good, check the internal resistance of the blower motor. A reading of zero or significantly below spec indicates an internal short circuit in the motor

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground to ensure the BCM is protected.

   Access the HVAC pressurizer assembly to reach the cab pressure blower motor.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the blower motor. Look for melted insulation, pinched wires, or areas where the harness rubs against the cab frame.

   If a harness short is found, repair the damaged section of the wire, apply heat-shrink tubing, and re-route or secure the harness to prevent future chafing.

   If the harness is intact and the motor failed the resistance test, remove the mounting hardware for the blower motor assembly and extract the faulty motor.

   Install the replacement blower motor assembly and reconnect the OE wire harness.

   Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition ON, and clear the inactive fault codes from the BCM.

   Test the HVAC system in both manual and automatic modes to ensure the blower motor speed regulates correctly without triggering the code.
