Case IH 518559-00 - ACM – ACM (Armrest Control Module): ACM: EHR lever 1 internal failure
Issue description
The internal potentiometer or sensor inside the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) Lever 1 (Lever A) is sending an erratic, out-of-range, or mismatched signal to the computer. The system can no longer accurately determine if the lever is in the neutral, raise, lower, or float position, causing the tractor to lock out that specific hydraulic remote.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Case IH Magnum AFS Connect series
- Case IH Steiger AFS Connect series
Check the cause
Verify Lever Assignment: Ensure that EHR Lever 1 is properly assigned to a rear remote valve in the AFS Pro 1200 display.
Inspect for Physical Binding: Check if the lever physically returns to the center 'Neutral' position smoothly.
Perform an EHR Lever Calibration: Attempt to recalibrate the EHR levers through the AFS Pro 1200 display or A-post instrumentation cluster.
Swap Test: Remove the armrest cover and swap the electrical connector of EHR Lever 1 with EHR Lever 2. If the fault code changes to Lever 2, the lever has failed. If it remains on Lever 1, there is a wiring harness issue.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and turn off the battery disconnect switch to prevent shorting the ACM.
Access the Armrest
Remove the retaining screws on the underside or side of the armrest console to lift off the top cover plate exposing the EHR lever block.
Disconnect Wiring
Locate EHR Lever 1 (the first lever on the left). Carefully unplug the wiring harness connector at the base of the lever.
Remove the Lever
Remove the mounting screws/bolts securing the faulty EHR lever to the armrest bracket.
Install the New Part
Seat the new EHR lever into the bracket and secure it with the mounting screws.
Reconnect and Reassemble
Plug the electrical connector into the new lever and reinstall the armrest cover.
Calibrate
Restore battery power, turn the key on, and perform the EHR Lever Calibration procedure. Note: A new lever will almost always throw a calibration fault until it is successfully calibrated to the ACM.
