Case IH 518559-01 - ACM – ACM: Internal failure in EHR lever 1

Issue description

The physical lever module on the armrest that controls the hydraulic remote valve has suffered an internal electrical or mechanical failure, preventing it from sending the correct position signals to the controller.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Steiger AFS Connect
  • Optum AFS Connect

Check the cause

  1. Check if the EHR lever was recently calibrated. If it was not, perform the EHR lever calibration procedure via the AFS Pro 1200 display.

  2. If it was already calibrated, repeat the calibration procedure to see if the module can relearn its neutral and detent positions.

  3. Test the wiring harness from the armrest controls to the ACM controller to ensure there are no shorts, open circuits, or loose pins.

  4. Check the software level. Download/flash the correct level of software to the ACM and perform the calibration procedure again.

  5. If the fault occurs again after software updates and calibration, the EHR control unit (lever module) has a hard internal failure and must be replaced.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery

    for safety.

  2. Remove the necessary trim panels on the MultiControl Armrest

to access the EHR lever block.

  3. Locate EHR Lever 1 (Lever A)

which is the first lever from left to right on the armrest.

  4. Disconnect the electrical connector

    for the faulty EHR lever.

  5. Remove the retaining screws

holding the individual lever module in place and pull the faulty lever out of the block.

  6. Install the new EHR lever module

and secure it with the retaining screws.

  7. Reconnect the electrical connector

  8. Reassemble the armrest trim panels

  9. Reconnect the battery and turn on the tractor

  10. Perform the EHR lever calibration procedure

Access the AFS Pro 1200 display. Navigate to the Vehicle Settings icon in the toolbar, click on Menu Diagnostics, and then Vehicle Diagnostics. Select the Calibration Wizard to perform the EHR lever calibration procedure so the ACM recognizes the new lever's parameters.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) Lever / EHR Lever Block

The AFS Connect series uses configurable, modular levers. Any EHR lever can be assigned to any EHR valve installed, but they are often sold as individual color-coded modules.

  • Electro-Hydraulic Remote Lever - Blue

  • EHR Lever - Raise, lower, extend
