Case IH 518559-13 - ACM – ACM: EHR lever 1 sensor disagreement
Issue description
The control module is receiving conflicting, erratic, or out-of-range signals between the redundant sensors inside EHR Lever 1. This usually points to a failing internal sensor in the lever, a calibration drift, or a wiring issue.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Magnum AFS Connect Series
- Steiger / Quadtrac AFS Connect Series
- Puma Series
- Optum Series
Check the cause
Physical Inspection: Ensure there is no physical debris, dirt buildup, or sticky residue preventing EHR Lever 1 from returning to its neutral position smoothly.
Wiring & Connector Check: Inspect the wiring harness connecting the EHR lever to the ACM. Look for pinched wires, moisture intrusion, or backed-out pins in the connector.
Swap Test: Temporarily swap the electrical connection of EHR Lever 1 with EHR Lever 2. If the fault code changes to the Lever 2 circuit, the lever itself is definitively the problem. If the fault stays on Lever 1, suspect the ACM or the wiring harness.
Recalibration: Attempt to recalibrate the EHR levers using the tractor's AFS Pro display or the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to fix sensor drift caused by vibration. If the lever fails calibration, it must be replaced.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and turn off the battery disconnect switch to prevent electrical spikes to the ACM.
Access the Levers
Remove the retaining screws on the armrest control panel cover to expose the underside of the EHR lever block.
Disconnect
Locate EHR Lever 1 (the first lever on the left of the remote bank). Carefully unplug its dedicated electrical connector.
Remove the Lever
Unbolt or unclip the faulty EHR lever assembly from the armrest housing.
Install the New Part
Seat the new EHR lever into the housing, secure the fasteners, and plug in the electrical connector.
Reassemble
Reinstall the armrest control panel cover.
Mandatory Calibration
Restore battery power and turn the key on. Use the tractor's instrumentation display or the Case IH EST diagnostic tool to run the EHR lever calibration procedure so the ACM learns the new sensor's minimum, maximum, and neutral voltage values.
