Case IH 518560-09 - ACM – ACM: EHR lever 2 disconnected while powered on

Issue description

The control module has detected an open circuit, loss of communication, or physical disconnection from the #2 EHR lever on the armrest while the tractor's system was actively powered on.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Steiger
  • Maxxum

Check the cause

  1. Check for other ACM error codes, clear them, and test the system for normal operation.

  2. Inspect all Tractor Control Unit (TCU) and ACM connectors to ensure they are fully seated, not damaged, pins are in the correct position, and the fit is tight.

  3. Check calibration status to verify if the EHR lever was recently calibrated, especially after a change of a controller or an EHR control unit.

  4. Verify voltage values using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) (Neutral: ~550 mV, Float: ~0 mV, Lower: ~180 mV, Raised: ~910 mV).

Repair steps

  1. Physical Inspection

Turn off the ignition. Inspect the wiring harness and the plug directly beneath EHR lever #2 on the armrest console. Reconnect if it has come loose. Repair or replace any damaged pins or wires.

  2. Clear and Retest

Clear the error code using the EST and test the system. If the fault is still present, proceed to calibration.

  3. Save Configuration

Go to the Configuration Icon in the EST, select 'ACM Configuration', and save the previous calibration values for the EHR levers to a file.

  4. Calibrate the EHR Lever

Disconnect all implements from the rear remotes. Enter the calibration menu (the lower central display will show 'CAL'). Follow the on-screen prompts to move the lever through its full range of motion (Raise, Lower, Float, Neutral). Turn the ignition key switch OFF to store the new calibration values in the memory.

  5. Replace the Lever

If the error code reoccurs after calibration, or if the EST shows voltage deviations greater than 30mV from the standard values, remove and replace the EHR lever assembly.

  6. Final Configuration

After installing a new lever, download the correct level of ACM software (if required) and perform the EHR lever calibration procedure again.
